It is the sweet and awesome responsibility of parents to train their children up with deep roots and faith in our Creator. It is also our job to give them wings at the proper time. It is much easier to give them roots. If we fail in giving them roots, it is heart-breaking to have to give them their wings, but it is the natural course of events.
Roots are important to God's people. Jesus said that when the word is sown in our hearts, if we do not have roots, we last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the Word, we quickly fall away. (See Mark 4: 16-17).
