THE DAY I THOUGHT MY WORLD HAD ENDED AT AGE 8.

One day when I was about 8 years old, my brother and sister and I were at our grandmother's house.  Our dad was not there at the time, but my aunt and uncle were.

My aunt was talking to her husband, my dad's brother, and I overheard her... about how our daddy needed to go to the wheat harvest in Kansas and how we kids could stay with them during the time he was gone.  She was talking just like it was already all set.

I still remember how I felt that day when she was talking about that...I felt like my world had ended right there!  When my dad came in a little later, I cornered him and asked him about it.  (I am sure with tears in my eyes!)  Here is what he told me...and I treasure his words to this day:

"No, I would never go off and leave y'all.  We are doing alright with all of us right here together.  I would never leave you."

I can tell you, I felt a million times better immediately.
